III.&= nbsp;      NEW MEMBERS -- Marines Jim Cowan and= Perry Glancy petitioned for membership in the Detachment, and on a motion duly made, properly seconded, and unanimously carried each= is accepted as a member of the Detachment.

COMMITTEE REP= ORTS (continued)

 

Veterans Council - Memorial Day observance at Crown Point Monumen= t will begin at 10:30 am.

 

Dedication of a new Memoria= l will conducted at the Darrow Chapel Monument at 2:00 pm.

 

Detachment Activities –

   &nbs= p;       

The sale of Roses – Marine Thompson proclaimed a successf= ul sale of roses which raised $1,204.01. Well Done to Marines Lushin, Peabody, Scott, Hayes, and those who helped them.

 

MCL Bike Run and Hog Roast – Marine Crousore announce that May 5th is the deadline for sponsors to pay for sponsorship.

 

Military Rites – Marine Hayes reports military rites cere= monies for 60 departed veterans this year to date; four were Marines.

 

All Service Retiree Affairs Office – This office is up and running at Grissom. Marines Chiavola and Hayes are contacts for this resour= ce.

 

Indiana Women Veterans Conference – Lisa Chiavola described the highlights of this conference on April 14th 2007, where she was one of four women Marines in attendance.

 

 

VII.     UNFINISHED OR NEW BUSINESS

 

 = ;           On a motion duly made, properly seconded, and unanimously carried; RESOLVED; that a $5000.00 Certificate of Deposit be purchased from a local financial institution.

 

VIII     FOR THE GOOD OF T= HE LEAGUE – Marine Handy announced:

a. Relay for L= ife is scheduled for June 15th 2007.

b.New members are encouraged to submit an in-uniform photo for the      Detachments= Honor Board.

c. MCL= State Department Convention on June 8 – 10 in Jasper, IN. Those who wish to attend should contact Commandant Handy.

 d. Marine Hayes announced the upcoming retirement of Bernice from the VFW Military Rites Unit on the occa= sion of her 94th birthday. Her service and this event are worthy of t= he Detachments recognition. Members of the Marine Corps League are encouraged = to join the celebration beginning at 4:00 p.m., on June 16th.

 

IX.&n= bsp;      NEXT MEETING –     &nb= sp;       The next meeting of the Albert E. Shockey Detachment will be on Thursday, May 3= 1, 2007, at 1800 hours, at 213 E. J= efferson St., Kokomo, Indiana.
