I.          OFFICERS PRESENT –Bill Gaunt, Vice Commandant; Woody Luecke, Adjutant; Ray Thompson, Paymaster; and Spencer Hayes, Quartermaster; Fred Scott, Sgt-at-Arms; Logan Sparling, Chaplain.

III.       NEW MEMBERS -- New member, Carroll Harris was sworn in.

 

IV.       MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING – RESOLVED; that the minutes of the June 28, 2007 meeting are approved without changes.

 

V.        PAYMASTER’S REPORT

VI.       COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Sick and Hurt – At this time we are blessed with nothing to report.

 

Veterans Council – Nick Loffredo reminded us of the Howard County Veterans Council Auto Show on July 28th, at Eric Chevrolet.

DETACHMENT ACTIVITIES

           

Golf Outing – Marine Luecke reported the progress-to-date including sponsors, golfers and gift contributors, and encouraged the participation of league members to make this event a success.

 

Young Marines – Logan Sparling described the progress being made toward the formation of a Young Marines Detachment. Committee members are Lonnie Slisher, Lisa Chiavola, and Logan Sparling. He asked the league members to consider their willingness to sponsor this endeavor.  

 

Military Rites – Marine Hayes reported that military rites ceremonies during 2007 have reached 100.

 

All Service Retiree Affairs Office – A retiree appreciation event will be held on August 24th, 2007 at Grissom.  

 

 

VII.     UNFINISHED OR NEW BUSINESS – Jeff Handy’s son has departed for MCRD, San Diego to begin his Marine Corps training. Keep him in your prayers.

 

VIII     FOR THE GOOD OF THE LEAGUE – Marine Lushin announced a trip to Quantico, Virginia which is being planned by the Grant County MCL detachment. The trip is scheduled for September 6th-9th. Our members are invited to join them.

 

            Marine Carroll announced Grissom Family Day to take place on September 23rd, between noon and 4:00 pm.

 

IX.       NEXT MEETING – The next meeting of the Albert E. Shockey Detachment will be on Thursday, 30 August, 2007, at 1800 hours, at 213 E. Jefferson St., Kokomo, Indiana.
